2 month well check

Jillian is growing like a champ! She is 11 lbs 2 oz (75%) and 22 inches long (50%). She got two shots and an oral vaccine and even though she's a little fussy this evening, she doesn't seem too bothered by it.
Katie was a great big sister and shared her stickers from the dr office with Jillian.

She'll reluctantly take the bottle, though she spits most of it out, and is NOT happy about the ordeal.

Katie's beautiful artwork from school-- the top one is her handprints shaped like a heart and it says my heart belongs to you, the other is her drawing and the teacher wrote what she said. "I'm glad you're my parents because you play games with me."

I don't know how she was comfy much less sleeping in this position. Baby pretzel?

Here are some gorgeous Jillian smiles (she's a little stingy with them!) She's been cooing a little bit, but it's really hard to catch on camera (even harder than those smiles)
We had a couple of beautiful days, and got to play outside with the neighbors and Katie has been getting really good on her bike.
On one of the not so pretty days, I took Katie to the bounce house, which she seems to like, although I think her favorite part is the hurricane machine which she pretends is a rocket.
Katie is learning about emotions this week at school, and they talked about simple tools and machines last week. Next week they have a valentines day party she is excited about, and they are supposed to wear their pajamas to school, which she also talks about a lot.

Jillian had her 1 month appointment last week, and the doctor said she was doing great. She weighs 10 lb 4oz which is 90% and she's 21 inches long (50%), her head is 14 3/4 (70%). I couldn't believe how much she weighs, but I'm glad! Her little cheeks and double chin should've been a clue... She had to get a shot, but it hasn't seemed to bother her very much.
I finally got a blurry shot of her smile, which is still rare at this point, but I try to get her to smile all the time.
Katie did great at her skating class this week, and she was able to get up on her own, and even skate a bit by herself.
Katie learned about boats two weeks ago at school, and airplanes last week. She made a paper airplane and used a feather and a straw to see how it would fall. She's starting to remember more about a few of her favorite books, and I love to hear her "read" them.

I could've sworn I got a smile from Jillian last night after she finished eating. I said her name and she looked right at me and smiled. It seemed intentional though most sites I've read say it's usually 6-8 weeks old.

Jillian is up to 7 lbs and 10 oz! So she's almost made it back to her birth weight. She gained more than I would have thought, so I'm really happy.
She had her first playdate this week, with her birth buddy Liam. Katie and Seth were running around like crazy people and wearing each other out.

The doctor is okay with Jillian's weight--it is stable, and even though she hasn't started gaining yet, she thinks that will come soon. She's a bit yellow, but nothing to be concerned about, so I think we'll get to avoid the bili blanket with her!

Jillian is alternating between having really good nights of sleep and being up all the time. She's sleeping in the swing, and that's a huge improvement from the bassinet. She's eating like a champ (every 1 1/2 hours during the day yesterday), and she's starting to be awake for a little longer.

Katie seems to enjoy being a big sister, she'll always ask where Jillian is, declare she's kinda cute, and want to hold and touch her. She even brushed her hair the other night.

Katie is also enjoying being the "cooker" in her new kitchen, although at her restaurant, you never get what you ask for and it may or may not be cooked :)

We had an early Christmas with Mamaw and Papaw, and Katie had a really good time opening her gifts and playing.

Born 12/12 at 2:38pm weighing 7lb 12oz, and 19 inches long. She is a joy-getting the hang of eating and sleeping. We brought her home today, and although she's lost a bit of weight (down to 7 lb 1 oz) and her biliruben levels are a bit high, we go into the peds office on Friday and they anticipate both resolving once my milk fully comes in.
I had contractions all Sunday night and went to Dr. Brannon's for my appt. I was 4 cm dilated and he sent me on over to the hospital. I got there at around 11, water was broken by 12, epidural about 1 when Allan arrived with Katie who spent the afternoon with Tori, and then when Dr B got there, four pushes later, Jillian was here! I got to hold her right away, even before weighing and cleaning.

Baby's fluids are a little low, so Mommy is taking it easy...(not so easy with Katie at full speed and the house needing to be packed) They will check levels again on Monday, so hopefully everything will be normal. And I did the 1 hour glucose rescreen today, should get results Thurs or Friday.
But otherwise, everything looked great on anatomy scan. She's 49% at 2 lbs 11 oz and organs are all working great.

(We didn't need a new battery, but Daddy did in fact park the car in a big ditch at my mom's house... we even needed a tow truck, and it's made quite an impression)

Why, aren't you feeling well?
No. I have a baby in my tummy and they need to do something about it.

K while praying: Pray that Mommy goes to sleep and has sweet dreams. And that she wakes up. And pray for the baby that she feels good, and if she don't we'll take her to the doctor.

How Far Along: 20 weeks-- that's halfway!

Biggest News: I'm on bedrest, was first put there because of bronchitis, and went to the dr today after some spotting and cramping through last night. No preterm labor, but there is a bit of a placenta previa--he said it was small and should resolve with the rest.

Total Weight Gain: -6 pounds, but that's okay. My belly is starting to show a bit with the right clothes though!

Gender: A girl

Movement: I've felt her moving around, and I keep thinking I can even see it from the outside, but no one else has had a chance to see it.

Sleep: Okay... the coughing has kept me awake some, and the pain last night.

What I miss: Getting my own food and drink.

Cravings: None.

Symptoms: Tiredness, cough, backache, headache, still some slight cramping.

Best Moment this week: Katie kisses.

Katie is doing great- she's 15% in weight at 27 pounds, 45% in height at 37 inches. She's right on track or ahead developmentally and socially, but we all knew that already ;)

Here are some videos from our week in NJ at Thanksgiving visiting Grandma and Grandpa. It has been a lot of fun and we are sad to go home tomorrow. Katie spent lots of time loving on Grandma, baked a cake with Grandpa, had dinner and played with Posie, we went to Sesame Place, and we visited the aquarium today. There were seals, penguins both of which we got to see being fed, a crocodile, fishies, a touch tank, but Katie's personal favorite was a child sized sink where she washed her hands about 25 times!

We took Katie to the beach for the first time yesterday. She was done pretty quickly but she seemed to have a good time. We also went to the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium.

State Fair

We went today and had a great time. It was Katie's first time, and she liked the animals and the food. We got deep fried snickers and a funnel cake and though she liked the fried food, she mostly liked liking the powdered sugar! She said "drink the plate" and got it EVERYWHERE

Katie, Mommy and our friend Kathleen went to the Canes Preseason Game yesterday. It was a lot of fun. Katie clapped, cheered, danced and seemed to have a good time. There was a cute boy in front of us-- way too old for her, probably 7 or 8, but she was making eyes at him and flirting a lot. She was saying Go Canes, Hockey PLayers, and we cracked everyone up when a penalty was called and she said hockey player time out!

Well-- Katie climbed and fell out of her crib yesterday (She wasn't hurt badly only a scrape above her mouth and a bruise on her arm). We wanted to make sure that she didn't get hurt so today we switched the crib to a toddler bed.
She has been asleep since 8pm and we told her she couldn't get up and haven't heard a peep. It is 10:30 and Allan just peeked in there and she is still in the bed.
I was really nervous about moving her because I never thought that she would lay there, but it was a pleasant surprise. I am not completely celebrating until I see how nap goes, but this is a biggie!

Katie hit her head in her room yesterday and had to go to the dr. They were able to use dermabond instead of stitches. It was scary-- a lot of blood- but she seemed more irritated with us holding the towel to her head and holding her down than she was hurt.
